Max Bowden, who played Ben Mitchell in EastEnders for six years, has had an FUE hair transplant at our Essex clinic in Shenfield with hair restoration surgeon Dr Shuja.
The actor, aged 30, had been watching his hairline change for years before he did anything about it. His dad went bald at 24, making him more conscious of hair loss due to his genetics.

Why Now?
As an actor, Max found that a receding hairline was starting to limit the roles he could go for:
“The main reason I’m at British Hair Clinic today is because of my career path and the way I want to be seen as an actor in the future. I want to have versatility and be able to play as many different roles as possible. As my hairline has receded, certain roles become more difficult to play.”
Years of public commentary about his appearance also didn’t help his confidence. So when a gap in his filming schedule came up, he took the opportunity to go ahead with the FUE procedure.
Max joins a number of well-known faces who have had hair transplants at our Essex clinic, including fellow soap actors Jamie Lomas and Ashley Taylor Dawson, and reality stars Dan Osborne and Rykard Jenkins, who all reported greater confidence at work post-FUE.

The Procedure
Max had never had any cosmetic treatment before, telling us he had some anxiety about the procedure, but found our team to be incredible, making him feel safe and really helping get rid of a lot of his nerves.
The aftercare was something he was worried about, but loved how personalised the treatment is at British Hair Clinic: “They want to keep in contact and follow your results. They don’t just send you home and forget about you.”

Dr Shuja, British Hair Clinic, commented:
“Many patients come to us after years of worrying about their hair loss. The earlier we can assess and discuss options, the more treatments are available to help preserve and restore hair. It’s encouraging to see public figures like Max speaking openly about a subject that affects millions of men.”

Going Forward
Max told us he is looking forward to having options again, being able to experiment with more hairstyles: “I’m looking forward to looking in the mirror and not focusing on my hair all the time. I think it’s going to give me more confidence and a sense of freedom.”
His advice for anyone considering an FUE hair transplant is to just go for a consultation, because you might not actually need one: “You’ll understand your options and the team is brilliant.”
